Sarita's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Sarita Azalia Rector, was born on August 27, 1954 to James Rector and Mrs. Miriam Mims in Harlem, New York.

Sarita confessed a hope in Christ at an early age after moving to Little Rock, Arkansas from Brooklyn, New York. She joined Shepardsfold Church under the leadership of Joe and Kathy Lester, whom became her church home and refuge.


Sarita was a free spirit. She was employed by the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, Arkansas State Capitol, Aflac, Russell Floyd Geico among other Insurance Companies, taught online classes, Spanish, and loved substitute teaching. Sarita was a dedicated member of every church and every career that she was a part of. Sarita loved to touch lives! She loved the youth. Her motto was “The children are our future, so we must take care of them because they will take care of us”. Sarita didn’t have much money but she had time.


Sarita amazingly held multiple degrees. Two Master’s in Cytotechnology and Biology among three Bachelor degrees.

She was very active in her current church, Greater Works Christian Church.


Sarita leaves to cherish her loving memory, her only son, Jonathan Sheafe of New Port News, Virginia; four loving grandchildren, Jonathan T. Shaefe, Jr., Brooklyn A. Sheafe, Londyn M. Sheafe, Elijah T.M. Sheafe; one brother, Dr. Joel Rector of Manhattan, New York; one uncle, Gary Mayo of Staten Island, New York and host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018, 10:00am at Greater Works Christian Church, 3517 Asher Ave., Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
