In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Thomas family. Tanyeka's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Tanyeka Danyiele Thomas.

Tanyeka Danyiele Thomas was born on October 3, 1974 to Gordon Thomas and Elaine Porter-Newson in Fort Smith, AR.


She graduated from Northside High School with the class of 1993. She was employed by Whirlpool and Area Agency on Aging.


Tanyeka was a Christian. Tanyeka loved her family, cooking, old school music, reading romance novels, musicals and watching movies. Tanyeka loved her “children”, her “children” were her pride and joy.


Tanyeka was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Samuel Porter, Sr.; paternal grandparents Kathryn Thomas and Henry Thomas.


Tanyeka leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter, Kamaria Elaine Smith; son, Amir Z’Ahid Smith both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her mother, Elaine Porter-Newson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her father, Gordon Thomas of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three sisters, Keziya (Paul) Apodaca and Adia Thomas, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Akilah (Shaun) McGhee of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, Ra’ka Thomas of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Everlean Porter of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one niece that brighten her day, Azariah McGhee (who loved her aunt T.T.) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.


Public visitation will be held, Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6-7pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018, 11:00am at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 4619 High Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Oak Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
