In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Burton family. Evergreen’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Evergreen Burton.

Evergreen Gault Burton was born April 14, 1945 in Wooster, Arkansas to the late William Taft and Macy Garrett Gault. Evergreen attended Pine Street High School. At an early age, she united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Wooster, Arkansas. When the family relocated to Conway (Friendship Community), Arkansas, she united with the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing.

Evergreen was employed by the Conway Senior Citizens Center for more than 20 years. She later began working for Mrs. Jane Dills Morgan in 1984, then she took an early retirement to take care of her mother, until her passing in April of 2004.

Aunt Eva's home was the "Hub" for family gatherings and holidays in Friendship (standing room only). She loved and welcomed any and everybody. Her doors were always open for that.

Evergreen was proceeded in death by both of her parents, William Taft Gault and Macy Garrett Gault; two brothers, Daniel Woodard, William Taft Gault; two sisters, Freddie Ester, Bertha Mae Gault (Garrett) and a special nephew, Robert Austin.

Evergreen leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Keith Eric (Lori) Gatewood of Nashville, Tennessee, Roy Taron (Tesa) Gatewood of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one daughter, Kimberly Lojuan (Charles) Cotton of Conway, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Willie Jean Thomas of Oak Park, Michigan, Loisteen (Dave) Conley, Jr., Taft (Barbara) Gault both of Conway, Arkansas and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Public viewing will beheld Friday, December 6, 2019 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will be held, Saturday, December 7, 2019, 11:00am at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 146 Taylor Cir., Conway, Arkansas.

Committal service and final resting place will be held at Friendship Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas
