In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Dixon Family. Doris' earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Doris Jean Dixon.

Doris Jean Dixon was born on July 10, 1935, to Benny Henderson and Eva Martin in Denison, Texas. 

Her early education was thru the Texas Public School System.  The family later moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from Technical School.

She met and married the love of her life, Johnny L. Dixon, Sr., on December 23, 1960.  Doris was a very loving and devoted wife to him and was always by his side. Through the years; they built many business ventures together.

Doris gave her life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alma, Arkansas before moving her membership to Faith Unlimited Church (formerly Full Counsel) under the leadership of Pastor Darrlyl Conley. She loved the Lord, her family and her church family. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and will always be cherished in all our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three (3) brothers and one (1) son.

Doris is survived by two (2) daughters: Claudia Haney and Paulette Murray both of Alma, Arkansas. Four (4) sons: Ladell (Ruby) Walton of Omaha, Nebraska; Stephen Combs, Sr., (Maretha) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Johnny L. (Chanda) Dixon of Alma, Arkansas and Bruce Dixon of Spiro, Oklahoma. Bonus daughters: Kim Nelson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Jolene Wynne and Gert Wells both of Van Buren, Arkansas and Lynette Mallory of Omaha, Nebraska.  One brother: Raymond Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; one (1) sister: Carol Robinson-West; and a special sister: Joyce Chambers of Omaha, Nebraska. Twenty-three (23) grandchildren, forty-three (43) great grandchildren, and seventeen (17) great-great grandchildren.

Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday July 29, 2026; 11:00am to 5:00pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Thursday July 30, 2026; 11:00am Faith Unlimited Church 3514 Kinkead Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Burial and final resting place: Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Avenue Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
