Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Rosie Lee Woods.

Rosie Lee Birdsong was born on May 20, 1932, in Cadron, Arkansas, to Susie Manson and William Birdsong.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, sister Brenda, husband Rev. Chester A. Woods Sr., son Hardrick Jerome Woods and the late wife of Chester A. Woods Jr., Barbara Woods.

Rosie attended St. Bartholomew’s School in Cadron, Arkansas. As a young girl, she was known as quite the tomboy, embracing the outdoors and finding joy in nature, especially while riding her horse.

She soon found the love of her life in Chester A. Woods Sr., a proud United States Navy sailor. Together they traveled throughout his naval career before welcoming their first son, Tyvieo Michael Woods Sr. Their family was later blessed with two more sons, Chester A. Woods Jr. and Hardrick Jerome Woods. Rosie also lovingly adopted and raised her sister, Brenda; with the same care and devotion she gave her own children.

For more than 40 years, Rosie faithfully served the community as a nurse’s aide at Sparks Regional Hospital. She was admired and deeply loved by her co-workers, patients, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rosie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful servant of God. Through her unwavering faith and gentle encouragement, she played a significant role in leading her husband to Christ. He later answered God’s call to the ministry, faithfully pastoring churches in Moffett, Alma, Mission Point, Fayetteville, and ultimately First Missionary Baptist Church.

Rosie’s love for Jesus Christ was steadfast and evident in every aspect of her life. Her faith inspired those around her, and her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength became a source of hope and encouragement for countless people. She lived with humility, grace, and unwavering trust in God.

Rosie’s Sunday best was always a touch of perfection, elegance, and beauty. Whether through her warm smile or her gentle spirit, she embodied a life marked by grace, beauty, and a heart devoted to the Lord.

Rosie’s unconditional love will live on in the memories of her brother Leon Murray; her sons Tyvieo Michael Woods Sr. (wife Muriel Woods), Chester A. Woods Jr. (wife Annette Woods); daughter Susan Thompson (Hollis Thompson); her grandchildren Tyvieo Michael Jr., Erica, Patrique L. Mickens-Woods (and wife); Shauntessa (husband Quincy); Charlon (husband Michael); Rachael (husband Melvin); Chester A. Woods III (wife Victoria); LaSheka (husband Sean), Itarea, Quincy, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many others who knew and loved her dearly.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday July 30, 2026; 10:00am to 6:00pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Friday July 31, 2026; 11:00am Mission Point Missionary Baptist Church 3322 North 52nd St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
