Yolanda Kerns (55) was born on February 14, 1971, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Maxine McLaughlin-Hicks and Thomas Hicks. She passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Yolanda was a woman who was stubborn, hard-headed, and could do things a lot of men couldn’t figure out.
She was the most loving human being; giving more of herself than she probably should have, being such a miraculous Mother. She never really questioned why or complained, she just always did what was needed for her children. Yolanda gave her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a fun and goofy soul, playing until the day she couldn’t. Peanut-butter and maple syrup mixed together was a delicacy to her; and of course, her Pepsi Zero.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maxine McLaughlin-Hicks.
Yolanda leaves to cherish her memories, one (1) son Jacob (Melissa) Ganz and one (1) daughter Joanna Kerns all of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Two (2) brothers: Yancy (Audra) Hicks of Dakota and Yul Hicks of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Three (3) grandchildren, along with other family and friends, who will all truly miss her.
She was and will always continue to be, the “light” for everyone she met; that just got a little further away.
Celebration of life memorial service for family and friends will be held on Monday June 29, 2026; 4: 00p.m. Home Church 1900 E. Church St., Barling, Arkansas 72923.
