In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jarrett family. Jerry's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Jerry Lewis Jarrett.

Jerry Lewis Jarrett “Pappy” was born December 14, 1962 to the late Elbert Jarrett and Dollie (Johnson) Polk in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jerry was also preceded in death by his four brothers, Alfred, Kenny, Reginald, and William Jarrett.
Jerry attended with King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education in the Fort Smith Public School System and he started studying law after graduation. He was not to be involved in sports due to his illness, but he had a determination that did not allow that to discourage nor stop him. While attending Darby Jr. High School, he became a basketball player and in spite of his small stature and having difficulty in wearing the uniform (Coach Jerry Jennings stated, they would have to alter his uniform because all sizes were too big for him).
Jerry loved being outdoors (parks and lakes), and to shop (a smooth dresser). He also loved to travel, he accomplished a personal goal he set at 12 years old, and that was to travel to every state in America. He dearly loved and was supportive of his family and he loved children. He enjoyed life by laughter and joking around. He will be missed significantly by those who knew and loved him.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Regina Jarrett of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one son, Marcuiece Johnson (aka Spark) of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Octavia Johnson of Morrilton, Arkansas, Takeslesha Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Averyona Donald of Fort. Smith, Arkansas; five brothers, Antonio Jarret of Little Rock, Arkansas, Richard Jarrett of Chicago, Illinois, Elbert (Zerna) Jarrett of Sherwood, Arkansas, Rudolph (Farrah) Shaw of Hampton, Viginia, Tavio Garrison of North Little Rock, Arkansas; nine sisters, Darlene Jarrett of Houston, Texas, Patricia Johnson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Barbara Johnson of Fort. Smith, Arkansas, Jacqueline (Deangelo) Williams of St. Paul, Minnesota, Blyth and Tonya Jarrett both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Chris (Rob) Mosley of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Yolanda Washington of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tamiera Jarrett of East St. Louis, Illinois; six aunts, Juanita Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio, Peggy Moore, Mary Francis Kursh and Lucy Hershel all of Fort. Smith, Arkansas, Thelma Clark and Catherine Jarrett both of Little Rock, Arkansas; one uncle, Theodis Jarrett of Little Rock, Arkansas, five grandchildren; stepfather, Willie Polk of Fort. Smith, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Lula Mae Johnson of Menifee, Arkansas; a special sister-in-law, Carolyn Donald of Morrilton, Arkansas; four nephews, Terry Moss, Terrance Jarrett, Jermaine Diaz all of Houston, Texas, and PI of Denver, Colorado; three nieces, Sylvia Jones of Houston, Texas, Whitney and Brittney Johnson both of Fort. Smith, Arkansas, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5-6pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, 11:00am at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 3509 Johnson St., Fort Smith, Arkansas. Pastor Stanley Whitmore, officiating.
Committal service and final resting place will be at Washington Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
