In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Rogers family. Horace's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell - Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Horace Rogers, Jr.

Horace Rogers, Jr. was born June 30, to the late Horace Rogers, Sr. and Rosie (Holloway) Rogers. His heavenly father called him home on January 13, 2019.

Horace accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor J. J. Watson, Sr. at Calvary Church of God in Christ. He attended Howard Elementary and Lincoln High Schools. He was a prep cook at Hardscrabble Country Club, and later he worked at River Valley Food Bank.

He was known as “Cartwright” by many to his family, and he was also the “Get down Dancer”. He loved to play dominoes.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Horace, Sr. and Rosie Rogers; his grandparents, Will and Tennessee Black; grandmother, Beatrice Smith, and sister, Melinda Rogers.

He leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life, his wife, Teresa Jones of Ft. Smith, AR; two sons, Jerome (Sarah) Jones of Ft. Smith, AR, and Joseph (April) Thomas of Mansfield, TX; three brothers, Harold Rogers of Spiro, OK, Stevie Black of Ft. Smith, AR, and Kenneth (Trish) Rogers of Ft. Smith, AR; three sisters, Jennifer (Jerry) Bunch of , Tomalita Chambers of Spiro, OK, and Jacqueline Rogers of Pine Bluff, AR; one aunt, Juanita Smith of Kansas City, MO; three brother in laws, Mike, Willie, and James Jones all of Ft. Smith, AR; four grandchildren; one special friend and domino buddy, Donald Allison, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 18, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Northside Church of God in Christ at 4420 Kelly Hwy., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.

Committal service and final resting place will be held at Washington Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
