In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Gettridge family. Kevin's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Kevin Gettridge.

In New Orleans, LA on April 4, 1985 to Cheryl Jordan-Gettridge and the late Kevin Gettridge, Sr. were blessed with their oldest son, Kevin Gettridge, Jr., affectionately known as “KJ”. KJ was also preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Margaret Ann Jordan.
At an early age, KJ accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. KJ attended Locket Elementary School in New Orleans, LA. Cheryl and her children later relocated to Fort Smith, AR were KJ attended Howard Elementary, Darby Jr. High, and Southside Schools.
KJ loved his family and was always very protective. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to flash his beautiful smile that could melt your heart, even if you were mad at him. KJ also deeply loved his family in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisiana and will be sorely missed by all.
KJ leaves to celebrate his life, his mother, Cheryl (Art) Jordan-Carter of Pittsburgh, PA; four children, Lauryn Elizabeth Vann, DeMarqueze Johnathan Threat (Queze), K’Zian Jace Gettridge, and Asia Marie Threat all of Fort Smith, AR; four siblings, Charnise, Justin and Jared Gettridge, and Juanelle Hodge all of Louisville, KY; a grandmother, Anna (Willie) Collins of New Orleans; two special cousins, Aaron Jones (AJ) and James Richardson (Jay); a godbrother, Salvador Zarates, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and awesome friends as brothers.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at New Covenant International Christian Center.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Covenant International Christian Center at 4400 North N Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at the Oak Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
