Doreatha Jackson

In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jackson family. Doreatha's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mother Doreatha Jackson.

Doreatha Jackson was born on March 3, 1927 to the late Howard and Estelle Jeter, Sr. in Union, South Carolina. Doreatha is the 8th of 12 children and was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Herman, Theodore, Sr. (Thelma), Lewis, Howard, Jr. (Viola), James, (Mary), Dennis, Sr. (Christine), Emsley, Sr., and Robert Lee, and two sisters Helen Ruth, and Johnnie Mae.

 

On April 27, 1964 she married the love of her life, the late Louis Jackson, Sr. and this union had six children and one son, Bobby Salter also precedes her in death along with one grandson, Michael Eugene Reynolds, Jr.Doreatha was a long-time member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Wortz Biscuit Company and retired after 25 years of service. She was a graduate of the Union Public Schools in South Carolina.

 

Doreatha enjoyed working in her garden alongside her husband and she also loved canning fruits. She was devoted to her family, she loved them dearly. She also loved and cherished helping to raise her grandchildren. Doreatha was a beautiful, loving, and caring person that always had a song in her heart.

 

Doreatha leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Louis and James Jackson both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three daughters, Helen Gordon, LaTrel (Hubert) Copeland, and Josie Reynolds all of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and a daughter in-law, Christine Salter of Pacolet, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Colette, Tifanny (Ray), Steven, Jermaine, Alisha, Amber, Johnathan, Jalisha, Josh, Zelco, Aleyah (Chris), and Vanderez, 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ida Maude McBeth of Pacolet, South Carolina; three in-laws, Lottie Jeter of Maryland. J. C. of California, and Jimmie of Nebraska, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.

 

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Covenant International Christian Center 4400 North N Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.

 

Committal service and final resting place will be held at the Washington Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
