In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Franklin family. Johnny's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Johnny Franklin.

Johnny Franklin was born July 31, 1945 to the late Joe Franklin and Earlene West in Dardanelle, Arkansas. Johnny answered the Master’s call on September 3, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his twin, Joe Franklin; a sister, Margaret Willis, and a niece, Sharon Willis.

Johnny graduated from Lincoln High School in Fort Smith, and he enlisted into the United States Navy. Johnny worked for Boeing Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri, before returning to Fort Smith, where he was employed by Gerber Products until retirement.

Johnny united with Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Choir. He loved his church as much as he loved the Lord. He has now moved his membership to heaven.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 31 years, Alice Franklin of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three daughters, Ursula Franklin of St. Louis, Missouri, Denise Johnson, and Roberta Johnson both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Ke’Audra, Michael, Shamicka, Ronald, and DeAngelo all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters, Della Mitchell of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Rosie Thompson of Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother, Robert Franklin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, three nephews, two nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church 1023 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Friday September 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Committal service and final resting place will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
