In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Stewart family. Mildred’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Mildred Stewart

Mildred Stewart (Bu Bu) the loving daughter of the late Zettie and Beaddie (Hughes) Clark died February 7, 2020.
Mildred grew up in Alma, Arkansas and attended Booker Elementary School under the tutelage of Mrs. Maggie Wilson. She later graduated from Lincoln High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. At an early age she professed a hope and belief in Christ and joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Mildred was a singer with a God given talent and loved singing in the church choir. Along with her twin sister Margaret they sang at events all around the county. They were offered a tenure with the “Wings Over Jordan” singing troupe, but due to their ages their mother would not let them leave home. Singing was her joy, anywhere and everywhere including the Halls of Alma High School.
Mildred worked several positions in the Alma area including the Busy Bee Café and Skelly Truck Stop to name a few. She retired after 20 years of tenure with the Alma School District. She leaves us all with special memories of a life well lived. We cherish those memories and will hold close the times we spent with her.
Mildred is preceded in death by her loving parents; twin sister, Margaret Clark; brother, Loran Owens, Jr.; daughter, Olivia ‘Lib’ Stewart, and grandson, Raytell Simpson.
Mildred leaves to mourn her passing five children; Cynthia (Glen) Hogue of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Demetria (Pam) White of Long Beach, California, James (Cindy) Stewart Jr. of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Angelia (Marcus) Acklin of Fort Smith, Arkansas. A longtime friend and brother, Johnny (Doris) Dixon, Sr. of Alma, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of adopted sons and daughters, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday February 14, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church 1115 Spring Street Alma, Arkansas 72921.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Lewis Cemetery in Alma, Arkansas.
