In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jackson family. James’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. James Oliver Jackson, Sr.

James Oliver Jackson, Sr. was blessed by God on Friday, November 22, 1956 to be one of the fifteen children born to the late Joe Nathan and Daisy Mae (Dawson) Jackson, Sr. in Conway, Arkansas. He was called to take his eternal rest on Sunday, August 30, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Larry Jackson and Joe Faulkner; and a sister, Elevina Croston.

James attended the Public-School Systems in Conway, Arkansas. While in school, He was a member of the football and track teams. Later in life, he moved to Fort Smith and worked at Federal Coach for several years. He joined the Ninth Street Church of Christ and became one of the Song Leaders; he had a beautiful voice.

James married LaDonna Releford and was blessed to have three children and two grandchildren in this union. He was the type of man that would do anything for anybody. He was a family-first, kind-hearted, fun-loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved having fun with his family and friends.

He was a lover of cars, for he truly enjoyed working on them. He was also noted for his cooking, his wife stated that “she was really going to miss his cooking”. He will be missed by those who loved and thought of his value in life.

James leaves to cherish his memories his wife, LaDonna Jackson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his son, James Jackson, Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his two daughters, Jamie Jackson of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Candace Cuello of Van Buren, Arkansas; his two grandchildren, James Rozay Jackson and Kendall Chukwurah; his seven brothers, Joe Nathan, Jr. (Helen), Lloyd (Brenda), Rodney (Anita), and Rickey Jackson all of Conway, Arkansas, Richard (Susan) Jackson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Fred Jackson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Keith Jackson of Austin, Texas; his four sisters, Diane and Virginia Jackson both of Conway, Arkansas, Glory Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland and Josephine Hall of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A public walk through will be on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901 | 479-782-9200.
