In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Thomas family. Carla’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Carla Thomas.

Carla Lynette Thomas was a gift from God on Thursday, January 15, 1970 in Los Angeles, California to Betty (Graham) Thomas and the late Charlie Williams. She was called to take her heavenly rest Thursday, November 25, 2021 from Fort Smith, Arkansas after a long courageous battle with heart disease. Carla was also preceded in death by her daughter: Kenniquewa (Destiny) Babineaux; her brother: Anthony Thomas and her grandfather: Willie Graham.


Carla grew up in Los Angeles, California; however, she spent many years residing in Alamogordo, New Mexico and Fort Smith, Arkansas. She went to Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, California and later went on to receive her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She held various roles in the Call Center Industry, her last role being an Operations Manager at Experian. She was a member of Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Carla was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was the rock in our family and she appreciated life. Her favorite things to do were to travel, shop and spend time with her grandchildren.


Carla will always be cherished by her grandmother: Annie Graham of Los Angeles, California; her mother: Betty Thomas of Fort Smith Arkansas; her daughters: Denesha Thomas, and Leana Babineaux both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, daughter & son-in-love Rochelle & Reggie Arter of Killeen, Texas; her ten grandchildren: Darius Thomas, Ciara Arter, Rodney Thomas, Kaliyah Pressey, Treshawn Babineaux, Prince Arter, Mahogane Steward, Destinae Steward, Imunique Steward and Tyson Thomas, and a host of many other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Greater Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church 35 South 22nd Van Buren, Arkansas 72956.


Committal service and final resting place will be at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
