Doris Victoria (West) Wilson was a blessing from God on Sunday, January 15, 1933, to the late Alberry and Marie (Woody) West in Coal Hill, Arkansas. She was the last of six siblings born in this beautiful union. She was likewise called by God to take her heavenly rest on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Albert West and three sisters: Bernice Johnson of Fort Smith; Catherine Neal of Milwaukee and Earnestine Green of California.
Doris moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas during her teenage years attending Lincoln High School. She was married to Nathan Harris until his death in 1965. Later in life, she was married to Clifton Wilson, Jr. until his death on February 10, 1991. No children were born from these unions.
Doris and Clifton were faithful members of the Church of Christ. They were active until they could no longer serve due to illness and/or death. Doris especially enjoyed the women's Bible Class and Wednesday night Bible Class. Both of them would dutifully help anyone in need and tutor new members of the church. One of her favorite sayings was, "God is still in control.”
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her sister: Effie Faye West of Kansas City, Missouri and her nephew: John Wesley Garner of Fort Smith, Arkansas, whom she raised as her own son, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
