James' earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of James Dawson, Sr.

James Dawson, Sr., was born on the 24th day of December 1935; to Nicey (Warren) Dawson and Isaiah Dawson, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. His father and mother preceded him in death; along with his wife: Augustine Dawson and three (3) children: Bobby Ray Dawson, Judy Dawson and Fitzgerald Dawson. James departed this life on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

James loved playing Dominoes, listening to the Blues, watching Wrestling and Western Shows.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Five (5) Sons: James Dawson, Jr., of Little Rock, Arkansas; Benjamin (Carolyn) Dawson, Christopher Dawson, Bobby (Rena) Dawson and Kelly (Katherine) Dawson all of Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Three (3) Daughters: Celestine Chrisp of Clarksville, Tennessee; Greta Dawson of Twin Groves, Arkansas and Debra Dawson of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Two (2) Sisters: Maxine Armstrong of Minnesota and Hazel Whitworth of St. Louis, Missouri. Eighteen (18) Grandchildren; forty (40) Great-Grandchildren and eight (8) Great-Great Grandchildren.  Along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family who will all truly miss him.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be Friday July 25, 2025, 11:00am to 7:00pm (family hour 6-7pm) Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be Saturday July 26, 2025, Ninth Street Church of Christ 1930 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
