In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Dickerson family. Steve’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Steve Allen Dickerson.

Steve Allen Dickerson, aka “Steve Bo”, was a gift given from God to Foster and Imogene Dickerson, Jr. on Thursday, June 21, 1956 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was called by God to take his heavenly rest on Friday, January 8, 2021 Along with his father, he was also preceded in death by a son; Brad Allen Dickerson, and two brothers; Barry and Albert “Fat” Dickerson.

Steve gave his life to Christ at an early age. Throughout his life, he learned to truly love the Lord as his Savior. He was a dedicated Usher at New Covenant International Christian Center, where he greeted the members with a smile. Later in life, he united with Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church. He attended the Fort Smith Public School System. He was a graduate of the Class of 1974 from Northside High School. He was a strand operator for Gerdau Fort Smith for over thirty-eight years. He was united in holy matrimony to LeJuana Hall, and they were blessed with four children; Joharah, Stephanie, Shawn, and Brad. He was also blessed with two grandsons, who affectionately called him “Paw-Paw”. One phrase you could always here from Steve Bo was “What’s up y’all”.

Steve was known as “Steve Bo” to his family, friends, and especially to his classmates. He was always known by his friends for having a funny sense of humor. You could always depend on his contagious laugh and smile. Everyone loved Steve Bo, and he will forever be a part of the Class of 1974. He was also known for having a big heart, and was always willing to help all of those in need. He will be remembered for his acts of kindness and generous spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who treasured and appreciated him throughout his life.

Steve leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years, LeJuana Hall–Dickerson; his two daughters; Joharah (David) Releford and Stephanie Dickerson; a son, Shawn Dickerson, two grandsons, Michaiah and Elyshah Releford all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters, Deborah Jackson of Bossier City, Louisiana and Pamela Dickerson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother, Michael (Shirley) Dickerson of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of in-laws, nephews, nieces, aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends.


Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church 1023 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Committal service and final resting place will be at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
