Sylvia Price was born on October 12, 1957, in Langdale, Alabama, to Mattie Ruth Pittman and Jerome Swanson. She was lovingly raised by her stepfather, Jimmy Evans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Price; her parents; and her beloved brothers, Robert Louis Pittman and Larry Traylor.

Sylvia was one of six children: Robert Louis Pittman, Larry Traylor, Charles Traylor (Mikel), Jerome Pittman (Yvonne), Geraldine Todd (James), and Sylvia Price.

Affectionately known as “Poonie” to all who loved her, Sylvia grew up in West Point, Georgia, surrounded by siblings and a host of cousins. From an early age, she was never just a little girl. She carried herself like an old soul with a bossy attitude  - cooking,  cleaning, organizing, and making sure everything was done the right way. She was always a step ahead of her peers and had a rare gift for turning even the most serious moments into laughter. Wherever Poonie was, joy followed. If you were around her, you were  going to laugh until it hurt.

A proud 1975 graduate of West Point High School, Sylvia was a standout basketball  player, a majorette in the marching band, and a talented flute player. She also excelled in Home Economics, laying the foundation for the loving wife and devoted mother she would become.

Sylvia began her journey into motherhood in 1974. She was the proud mother of Erica Blair (Bo), Thaddeus Stiggers (Erika), and Aubrey Price (Aleena). She also embraced three bonus children: Derek Wilson (Dreadra), Dorian Price (Denise), and Dominique Price (Andrea).

In 1987, she married the love of her life, Alvin Price. Together they built a beautiful life in Rowlett, Texas, where they lived until retirement in 2007. Afterward, they returned to Conway, Arkansas, settling into Alvin’s childhood home. There, they embraced retired life -  staying busy with hobbies, opening their doors to family and friends, and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Sylvia grew to absolutely love Conway and the life she created there, forming friendships that became her second family.

On February 6, 2026, at the home she cherished, Sylvia was peacefully called to her    eternal resting place.

She leaves behind her children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her laughter, strength, and unwavering love.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, 2:00pm at True Holiness Saints Center, 198 Hwy 286 East, Conway, Arkansas 72032.

Committal service and final resting place will be held, at Ray Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
