In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Releford family. Tonya’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Tonya Maria Releford.

Tonya Maria Releford (Boo-Boo) was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 6, 1967, to the late Ocie Lee Releford Jr. and Norma Ruth (Shepard) Releford. Tonya was called to take her eternal rest on Tuesday July 26, 2022, in Roland, Oklahoma.


Tonya is preceded in death by three siblings: Kenneth Releford Sr, Douglas C. Releford and Gwen Dora Releford.


As she began to mature not only physically, but mentally, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was an active member at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Roland, Oklahoma. She attended Roland Public Schools in Roland, OK and graduated with the class of 1985. She later attended Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma and graduated with an associate degree. She also attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Tonya enjoyed music, family and food and fun but mostly food. She was a very hard worker, working three jobs at times to provide for her two greatest achievements her children, Marcus Tyrel and Tyren Danyelle. Tonya’s last position of work was as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Arkansas Support Network. She retired from the workforce due to her illness and was deemed disable.


Tonya leaves to cherish her memories her son: Marcus (Madison) Chestnut; daughter: Tyren Chestnut, both of Roland, OK; sisters: Linda (James) Morgan, Carla (Fred) Kirkwood both of Muldrow, OK; two beautiful grandchildren: Maverick and Mavery Chestnut, and a host of other relatives and many friends and church family.


Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church 111976 South 4780 Road, Roland, Oklahoma 74954.


Committal service and final resting place will be at the Shady Grove Cemetery.
