In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Ross family. William’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Deacon William Eugene Ross, Sr.

William (Bill) Eugene Ross, Sr. was a gift from God on Monday, December 16, 1940 to the late Eugene Ross and Ruby (Meek) Roller in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from his home in Fort Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Ross; his stepfather: Willard Roller; a son: Mark R. Ross; a grandson: Matthew Ross; a brother: Jack Ross; a sister: Linda Roller; and two nephews: Eric Burton and Danny Ross.

Bill attended the Public School System of Downy, California and he graduated from Downy High class of 1960. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Wednesday, June 28, 1960 and his last day of duty was on Friday, June 15, 1962. He was a faithful member and respected deacon of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was also dedicated member of the Wednesday Noon-Day Bible Class at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who adored and appreciated his presence throughout his life.

Bill will be forever cherished by his two sons: William E. Ross, Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Bryan Ross of Little Rock, Arkansas; his five brothers: Ernie and Dewayne Roller both of Fort Smith, John Ross, Roger Ross and Warren Ross of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his four sisters: Mary Coleman of Dothan, Alabama, Carolyn Sue Ross and Judy (David) Burton all of Fort Smith, Gayle (Samuel) Hall of Howe, Oklahoma; his six grandchildren: Deborah (Eduardo) Vielma of Uniontown, Arkansas, Jessica (Bryan) Hamilton of Liberty, Oklahoma, Mark A. Ross, Casey Ross, Brandon Ross all three of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Nicholas Ross of Ozark, Arkansas; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.


Committal service and final resting place will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
