In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jones family. Wyman’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Wyman Ewing Jones, Sr.

Wyman Ewing Jones, Sr. was a blessing from God to the late Inez Manager on Tuesday, May 2, 1939 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was called to take his eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was also preceded in death his grandparents, Daddy AD and Mamie Manager.

Wyman was raised by his grandparents, Daddy AD and Mamie (Reed) Manager. He attended Van Buren Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a life-long member of Greater Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. On Monday, August 7, 1961, he married his best friend and love of his life, Carolyn Jane Abernathy (aka Red on the Head). This holy matrimony of over 59 years sharing a blissful love was gifted with four beautiful children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Wyman loved his family, fishing, hunting, Cowboys, fixing cars, remodeling homes, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He coached softball, baseball, and football at the Van Buren Boy’s Club for over thirty years. He was truly a “Jack of all trades”. He was a strain operator for Macsteel (Gerdau Fort Smith) for 16 years, and he also worked in manufacturing for over 45 years. He was able to enjoy 21 years of retirement. He was a well-loved gentleman who never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by those who adored and treasured him throughout his life.

Wyman will be forever cherished by his devoted loving wife, Carolyn Jones, of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sons, Wyman (Connie) Jones, Jr. of Cedarville, Arkansas and Richard Jones of Sherman, Texas; two daughters, Michelle (Danny) Lewis and Mamie (Robert) Banks all four of Van Buren, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Jermale (Raven) Jones, Shawn Jones, Wyman Jones, III, Robert Banks, II, Lexie Jones, Preston Jones, Kenzie Jones, and Kayleigh Sterling; seven great-grandchildren, Kaybrei Banks, Adrienne Jones, Jara Jones, Elliana Banks, Bryzynn Banks, Shadeux Banks, and Novan Shepherd; a brother, Robert Robinson, Jr., other family members, and friends.


Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 N 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelley Highway Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Committal service and final resting place will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas.
