In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Vann family. Percy's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Percy A. Vann, Jr.

Percy Anderson Vann, Jr. affectionately known as “Chocolate” was born July 8, 1956 to the late Percy Anderson and Elvia (Johnson) Vann, Sr. in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Jerome Starks; his sister Billie Faye, and his brother Bobby E. Vann II.

Percy accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at First Missionary Baptist Church at the tender age of six. Percy attended Fort Smith Public Schools, Darby Junior High and graduated from Northside High School Class of 1975 as a three-sport letter in Football, Basketball, and Track/Field earning a football scholarship from the HBCU, Grambling State University. Later in life he followed his father’s footsteps and entered the workforce in the food and beverage industry. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR auto racing.

Percy was a free-spirited honest man who had a witty sense of humor and was quick to flash his infectious smile touching the hearts and souls of those that came in contact with him. Percy deeply loved his family and close friends and genuinely cared for their health and well-being. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Percy leaves to celebrate his life, his daughter, Ebony Yvette Vann of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren; Martell Williams and Natia Perry of Indianapolis, Indiana; his two sisters, Barbara Grayson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Sundra Kay Vann of Newport, Michigan; his two special nephews, Charles Vann and Darrell Taylor; his two special nieces, Barbara Vann and Monica Vann; a special friend, Linda Crow, and a host of nephews, nieces, and many other relatives, and close friends.

Visitation will be Monday, September 30, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Tuesday October 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelly Hwy Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.

Committal service and final resting place will be held at Washington Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
