In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Hood family. Calvin’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Calvin Rodney Hood, Sr.

Calvin Rodney Hood, Sr. affectionately known as "Ronnie" was born on January 31, 1959 to the late Brady and Fleecie Mae Hood in Hickory Plains, Arkansas. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Hickory Plains, and later baptized into Christ at McAlmont Church of Christ in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
On December 23, 1978, Calvin married the love of his life, Sophia, and to this union four children were born. He was a very dedicated and hard worker. He was an over the road tractor trailer driver for over 25 years and a diesel mechanic. whatever was broken he could fix it; cars, bikes, lawn mowers, etc. When asked, "What is your occupation?", he would answer, "I'm in transportation". I would ask him why he answers with "I'm in transportation", he just gave me that Hood look.
Calvin and his wife Sophia continued their worship at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in until his illness would not allow him to attend.
Calvin is proceeded in death by his parents, Brady and Fleecie Hood; sisters, Naomi Thompson, Brenda Morton; brothers, Sammy Hood and Roe Chester Hood.
Calvin leaves to cherish his sweet memories, his wife, Sophia Hood; children, Carla McNair of Conway, Arkansas, Carlos Hood and Cornelius (Samantha) Hood both of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Calvin (Lohendy) Hood, Jr. of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Kenyanna, Carliscia, Janyecia, Achilles, Christopher, Cayla, Cassundra, Courtnee, Gaven, Caden, Cornelius Jr. , Cameron, Collin, Drake, & Carter; sisters, Barbara Williams, Carolyn Sue Bayindu, Portia Robinson, Debra Hood Miles, Sandra Winston, Danna Smalls, Lisa Hood brothers, Bennie Ray Hood, Brady Hood Jr, Stanley Hood, Daniel Hood, & Steffon Hood Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Faulkner Lake Orchard, 503 Morris Rd., North Littler Rock, Arkansas 72117.
