Elizabeth Rosella West Woods, affectionately known as Lee-Lee or Liz, passed away peacefully,

leaving behind a legacy of love and joy. Born on August 18, 1961, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to

Charles and Brenda West, Liz was the cherished second daughter in the West family, known as one

of the “West Girls.”

From a young age, Lee Lee professed her love for Christ and was baptized at First Missionary

Baptist Church. She was a proud graduate of Northside High School, Class of 1979, where her

passion for sports shone brightly as she excelled in basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Lee Lee began her career with OK Foods before dedicating over 30 years of service to Trane, where

she held various roles, including supervisor, before retiring. In October 2020, she joined her

beloved sister and best friend, Amelia, at Wal-Mart Corporation, where she served for 23 years

before retiring in 2023. Known for her boundless energy, she later worked at Silgan for five years

following her retirement from Trane.

Outside of work, Lee Lee had many passions. She loved reading – a gift she inherited from her

mother – and was a devoted fan of women's collegiate basketball, especially cheering for her

favorite player, Maya Moore. Sundays were special family days where she enjoyed discussing the

stock market and money-making ventures with her father. Lee Lee cherished traveling with her

sisters, Charlotte and Amelia, earning them the affectionate title of “The Golden Girls.” Above all,

her greatest joy came from being a grandmother to her six grandsons – Jalean, Jordan, J’Korien,

Jamarri, J’Veion, and Zailee. The title of grandmother was one she wore with style and grace, always

encouraging and supporting her grandsons in their activities.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Joyce Dodson-West; father, Charles

William West; sister, Michelle Franks; and nephew, Ahmad Guillory, as well as her maternal and

paternal grandparents. She is survived by her stepmother, Estherene West; her children, Maresha

Woods, Mark (Jessica) Woods, Jr., and Ashley Woods; her sisters, Charlotte West, Amelia

(Kenneth) West-Manager, Apral Cummings, and Yolanda (Dekeatrick) West-Calvin; her step-

granddaughter N’Kyiah; and her first great-grandchild, due in October 2024. She will also be

remembered by her eight nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends who were touched

by her vibrant spirit.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday September 27, 2024; 9:00am to 6:00pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday September 28, 2024; 11:00am First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelley Hwy., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
