Josie’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mrs. Josie Gilkey.

Josie M. Gilkey was born November 19, 1934 to George and Clyde Lee Rector in Faulkner County. She professed her hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. James C.M.E. Church.
She was married to Howard R. Gilkey on September 18,1950 and to this union, one child was born, Michael R. Gilkey. She was a food service worker for Julia Lee Moore Elementary School. Josie loved to fish, garden, crochet, read, cook, spend time with family and friends and serve others in the community. She was also an honorary member of the Cheerful Givers.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. George Rector; her husband, Howard R. Gilkey; her son, Michael Gilkey (Donna); stepdaughter, Sheila Gilkey; two sisters, Celestine and Val Jean; three brothers, George Edward, Rickey, and Bobby.
Josie leaves to cherish her memory, one sister: Stella; brother: Steve; grandchildren: Rodney, Michael Jr. “Fred”, Natasha (Cornell), Amber “Nikko”, Tamekah, Ramona (Dale), Aaron, and Allison; along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, 11:00am at St. James CME Church, 1304 Markham St., Conway, Arkansas 72032.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Robinson Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
