In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Maltbia Family. Larry's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Larry Maltbia.

Larry Leslie Maltbia was born on June 5, 1950, to Gladys Winston and Baxter Maltbia in the Gold Lake Community of Conway, Arkansas. He departed this life on September 27, 2025.
Larry graduated from Conway High School in 1968 and went on to attend the University of Central Arkansas. He later served his country in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge. Following his military service, Larry worked as a diesel mechanic for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Kansas City, Missouri. He later joined the United States Postal Service, where he built a long career and retired with honor.
Larry accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of the Church of God in Christ at Mount Sinai, under the leadership of Elder Earnest Sweat III, where he remained a faithful member until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his children, Leslie Faye Maltbia, Lesley Jean Maltbia, and Katrina Maltbia-Beaty; his parents, Gladys and Baxter Maltbia; his maternal grandparents, Essie Jones and Wade Winston; his paternal grandparents, Fleta Campbell and Eldridge Maltbia; and his siblings, Rozzie Lee Simpson-Mosby, Edward Charles Simpson, Lois Dean Simpson, Ellis Wilbur Maltbia, Ottie Mae Maltbia, Buford Maltbia, Melvin Maltbia, and Harriett Maltbia-Rogers.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Regina “Reggie” Maltbia of Conway, Arkansas, and Karlis Donald (James) Jordan of Memphis, Tennessee; his brother, Baxter L. “Vern” (Lorine) Maltbia of Conway, Arkansas; and his sister, Valvia “Jean” Maltbia-Smith of Conway, Arkansas.
He was the proud grandfather of ten: Deontray Maltbia Henson, Troycie Bass, Tyana Symone, Teliesha Mason, Tana Mason, Shamarsha Barnes, Kabree Maltbia, Kaman Maltbia, Jerad Jordan, and Feleica Jones. He was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
Larry’s memory will also be treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends. A special acknowledgment is given to his dear friend, Ethel Tyus-Maltbia-Payne, for the love and support she shared throughout his life.
Larry will be remembered for his faith, his service, and the love he had for his family and community. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Celebration of life service and committal service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Ray Cemetery, 277 Stanley Russ Rd, Conway, Arkansas, 72034.
