In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Releford family. Michael’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Michael Wayne Releford.

Michael Wayne Releford was a blessing from God on Friday, January 2, 1959 to the late Paul Fredrick and Esteller (Brewer) Releford in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was likewise called by God to take his eternal rest on Friday, March 3, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Michael was preceded in death by two of his brothers: Paul, Jr. and Gary Wayne Releford; three of his sisters: Helen Carter, Myra (Tuttie) Releford and Patricia Mays. His parental grandparents: Charlie and Linnian (Nickerson) Releford and his maternal grandparents: Willie and Francis Emma Clayton.

Michael accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Fort Smith Public School System: Howard Elementary, Darby Junior High and Northside High. At Howard, he was a Sergeant on the Patrol Unit, played as a quarterback on the Flag Football Team, played basketball and ran track. At Darby, he played football, basketball and ran track. While at Northside, he played basketball for a short period of time.


Michael was a kind-hearted man. He would not turn anyone away who needed his help. He worked various types of jobs throughout his lifespan, but he preferred doing lawn care. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories, his brothers: Joe (Lugoria) Releford and Billy Joe (Paula) Releford; his sisters: Mildred Releford and LaDonna (Donnie) Scarborough all of Fort Smith, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other family relatives and friends.


Walk-through visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11 a.m. at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church 3509 Johnson Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Committal service and final resting place will be at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
