In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jones family. Robert’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Robert Jones.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Larry Jones, Jr., 58, of Conway, Arkansas on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022. Larry was born on March 31st, 1964, in Baldwyn, Mississippi to Robert Larry Jones, Sr., and Sue Gardner Jones. Larry graduated from Collierville High School in Tennessee with the class of 1982 and went on to receive degrees in Trumpet performance from the University of Memphis and the University of North Texas. Larry was Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Jazz at the University of Central Arkansas and a member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra until his health declined and he was forced to retire in 2018. Larry’s performances included major symphony orchestras, touring Broadway productions, professional chamber ensembles, and national television commercials, as well as working with many well-known artists including The Temptations, The Four Tops, Kenny Loggins and Olivia Newton-John to name a few.


He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Larry Jones, Sr., of Memphis, Tennessee.


Larry is survived by his wife, Debbie of Conway, Arkansas; his mother, Sue Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; a stepson, Justin (Krystal) Lawrence; granddaughter, Phoebe and a host of friends, former students and colleagues that will miss him greatly.


As per Larry’s request, there will be a private memorial service in Mississippi with only close family. However, in honoring Larry’s memory, there will be a celebration of his life at a later date with details to be announced soon.
