In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Massey Family. Tilda's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Tilda Massey.

Tilda Massey (better known as Louise) was born March 29, 1946, to Andrew and Willie Mae Posey in Moffett, Oklahoma.  She entered eternal rest on January 21, 2025.  Tilda was preceded in death by her mother: Willie May Posey; Father: Andrew Posey, husband: Sherl Massey, brothers: Ertha Posey and Edward Posey and son: Fred Copeland. 

 

Tilda spent her childhood growing up in Moffett, Oklahoma, attending school in Moffett and Roland, Oklahoma.  As a young adult, Tilda married Sherl Massey and settled in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  She also accepted Jesus into her life and became a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.  As an adult Tilda worked at The Whirlpool Corporation for 17 years. After retiring she enjoyed spending much time with her grandchildren and studying the Word of God.


Tilda had a high loving spirit, with a sense of humor, classy charisma and elegant taste in fashion.  She was very involved in her community, church and family. In her free time Tilda enjoyed evangelizing to any and everyone working in the church and visiting with the sick and homebound. Tilda’s family (especially her grand and great grandchildren) held a very special place in her heart. Spending time with her family always put a smile on Tilda’s face. Even during her time of sickness, she assured her family that their spirit was felt when in her presence.  Tilda had a courageous spirit and a passion for life.  She has left an everlasting imprint on the hearts of those she knew and loved.


Tilda is survived by her daughter; Michelle Poole of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three (3) grandchildren: Marquis “Scooby” Copeland; Tamika Copeland and LoToya Roberts (Tracy) all of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Six (6) great-grandchildren; siblings: Jessie Youngblood (Donnie) of Muldrow, Oklahoma; Virginia (Lee) Massey of Moffett, Oklahoma and Parthina Parker (Paul) of Fort Smith; Darlene Posey of Muldrow, Oklahoma and Elizabeth Russell (James) of Clovis, New Mexico.

Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and a special dear lifelong friend, Sarah Benton.

 

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday January 31, 2025, 9:00am to 7:00pm with family hour 5-7pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday February 1, 2025, 1:00pm Moffett Public School Gym 701 Belt St., Moffett, Oklahoma 74946.


Burial and final resting place Shady Grove Cemetery, Roland, Oklahoma 74954.
