In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Williams family. Leon’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Leon Williams.

Leon Williams, the ninth of fifteen children, was a blessing from God to the late Bennie and Della (Thompson) Williams on Friday, July 6, 1928 in Roland, Oklahoma. He was called by God to take his heavenly rest on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-two and a half years, Mary Louise Williams; seven sons, Ricky, Stanley, Robert Paul, Morris, Leon Copeland, Jr., Timothy, and Albert Williams; six brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Thomas, Sandy, Alonzo, and Bennie, Jr. Williams; three sisters, Kathleen Williams, Esther Molden, and, Belester Williams.
Leon spent his younger days in the Roland, Oklahoma area. After the completion of the eighth grade, he joined the United States Army. While serving in the Army, he received his GED. He faithfully served his country for twenty-three years of service before retiring. Before receiving an honorable discharge, he received numerous accommodations and awards. In 1969 he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked for 15 years for the United States Postal Service before retiring.
Leon gave his life to Christ in the early 70’s and became a devoted member of the Church of Christ on North Peoria & Young in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was not afraid to become a boss, for he was truly an entrepreneur. He owned a gas station. He had a maintenance contract with Movie Theater, and he also owned a Laundromat. After retirement, he moved back to Roland, and became a faithful member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Leon proved to his family that they were first in his mind, for he never failed being supportive in all of their lives. He was a known for being loving, kind-hearted, and very generous. He also had very structured family values, and the family had to abide by his firmness. The family could always expect to see him at the family reunions, he was a family man. He will be greatly missed those who admired and treasured him throughout his life.
Leon leaves to cherish his memories his three daughters, Thelma (Clifton) Scott, Rita Brooks both of Roland, Oklahoma, and Linda Mustin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 39 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jackie (Eva) Williams of Highland Park, Michigan, Melvin (Ann) Williams of Roland, Oklahoma, and Bennie Williams of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Terry Williams of Detroit, Michigan and Pearlene Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a host of nephews and nieces, other family members, and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday January 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ 1930 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Shady Grove Cemetery Muldrow, Oklahoma.
