In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Taylor family. Doris’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Doris Taylor.

Doris Jean Taylor, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend was called by God to take her eternal rest on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a blessing on Wednesday, February 6th, 1946 birth to the late Johnny and Leberta (McKesson) Walker. Along with her parents, Doris unites in death with her loving husband of 55 years, David Taylor; her son, Keith Taylor; a brother Johnny Walker, and, a sister Donna Faye Walker.

Doris was raised in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma. She graduated from the Public-School System in Spiro, Oklahoma. She was a retired preschool teacher and homemaker. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends, who meant the world to her. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up a room. She was very compassionate and supportive, always putting others before herself. “To know her was to love her”.

Doris’ beautiful life with forever be cherished in the lives of her four children: Tracy (Sakonh) Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Tony (Misty) Taylor of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, Cicily Taylor and Mark Taylor both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; four sisters, Kathleen Ritter of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Patsy Thompson of Charlotte, South Carolina, Joyce Seymour of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma and Ida Black of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two brothers, Allen Walker of Sacramento, California and Jerry Walker of Omaha, Nebraska, 29 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, a host of loving relatives and friends.

Celebration of life service will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. at First Church of God in Christ 2037 North 14th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.

Committal service and final resting place will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
