In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Gray family. Violet’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mother Violet Gray.

Violet Gray aka, “Fat”, was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas on Sunday, July 19, 1925 to the late Cad and Floy (Moody) Thompson. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Verlon Jack Gray; a daughter, Carolyn (Curtis) Johnson; three sisters, Mary Chaney, Elizabeth (Louis) Williamson, and Dorothy (Andrew) Bremley.
Violet accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and never wavered from her belief nor trust in God. She attended Douglas High School in Dardanelle, Arkansas. She met the love of her life, Verlon Jack Gray, and they were united in holy matrimony on Tuesday, August 12, 1941. They enjoyed life with their children in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and made many happy memories with family and friends.
Violet was one of the longest standing members of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was known for being a very compassionate, loving, kindhearted, and charitable lady in her community and church. She reached beyond her own family to make sure others would also have enough to eat; she would always cook more than enough. She was so special and will be greatly missed by those who loved and cherished her FOREVER.
Violet leaves to cherish her memories four sons; Terry (LaDonna) Gray of Los Angeles, California, Verlon Anthony (Judith) Gray of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Kenneth (Zuella) Gray of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Leonard Gray of Fort Smith, Arkansas, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
