In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jones family. Raymond’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Raymond Earl Jones.

Raymond Earl Jones was a gift from God to the late parents Joseph Earl Jones, Sr. and Ernestine (Ivory) Dennis on Friday, November 30, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was called to take his eternal rest on Friday, December 4, 2020 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his stepbrother, Joseph E. Jones, Jr.
Raymond accepted Christ as His Savoir at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Griffen at the Zion Hill Baptist Church. He attended the Public School system in New Orleans and he graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1969. After school, he worked at Time Warner Marine.
Raymond’s passions in life were drawing, sketching, collecting comic books, and MAD Magazines. He was a died-hard New Orleans Saints Football Fan. He also loved taking things apart and putting them back together, until he met the ultimate machine. He received his first bike, an English Racer. He took it apart and realized it just too much for him to handle, all of those tiny pieces evenly laying out side by side. He just could not figure out how to put the bike back together. His siblings thought he was in big trouble with their parents, but to their surprise, they did nothing of course, (his siblings were shocked by their parent’s response).
Raymond had a very big heart. He passionately loved his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who loved and treasured him dearly in life.
Raymond will be forever cherished by his three daughters, Beverly and Sedonia Jones both of New Orleans, and Dawn Smith of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, Joseph, Jr. and Dewayne Jones both of Lafayette, Louisiana; four sisters, Janice Hall, Sandra Preston, and Sedonia Placide all three of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mary Hunter of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two step-sisters, Stephanie Self and Trudy Haydel both of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a host of other relatives and friends.
